Northwest Radiology Network Welcomes Nuclear Medicine and Pediatric Radiologist Dr. Akash Patel

Northwest Radiology Network welcomes Akash Patel, M.D., who is subspecialized in nuclear medicine and pediatric radiology.

After receiving his Bachelor of Science in biomedical engineering from Drexel University in Philadelphia, Pa., Dr. Patel received his Doctor of Medicine from the Drexel University College of Medicine.

He completed a diagnostic radiology residency followed by an integrated nuclear radiology fellowship at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, where he was chief fellow. He also completed a diagnostic pediatric radiology fellowship at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.

Certified by the American Board of Radiology, Dr. Patel is a member of the American College of Radiology, Radiological Society of North America, Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, Association of Pathology Chairs Honor Society and Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honor Society.

He has contributed to several original papers on topics including lymphangitic carcinomatosis, delayed phase enhanced imaging in malignant pleural mesothelioma, early detection of pemetrexed-induced inhibition of thymidylate synthase and alpha-catenin localization and sarcomere self-organization.

Dr. Patel has also contributed to presentations on the dynamic enhancement of malignant pleural mesothelioma on computed tomography (CT) and the value of delayed phase enhanced imaging in malignant pleural mesothelioma.

Dr. Patel joins one of Indiana’s largest and most experienced staff of physicians specializing in quality high-end imaging services.
