Meet the NWR Team: Dr. Marc Underhill

Northwest Radiology would not be successful without the hard work and commitment of our dedicated team! We are proud to have such outstanding team members who not only provide exceptional care to our clients, but who also work tirelessly behind the scenes to keep things running smoothly every day.

We want to thank our team members for their service and show everyone what a wonderful team we have, so we want you to “Meet the NWR Team.”

Each month, we will feature team members who are celebrating work anniversaries with Northwest Radiology.

Please meet … Dr. Marc Underhill. He joined the team in June 2011, making this his five-year anniversary with Northwest Radiology! Learn more about Dr. Underhill.

m-underhillQ: What is your role and subspecialty with Northwest Radiology?

A: Pediatric and adult interventional radiology (IR)

Q: Why did you choose to work in the field of radiology and, specifically, your subspecialty?

A: I have always enjoyed working with children and almost entered into pediatric surgery. But working for Northwest Radiology during the summers in college gave me an early interest in radiology, so I geared my medical school electives toward radiology and surgery. IR was the happy medium.

Q: How did you get started with NWR? Why have you stayed so many years?

A: NWR was so good to me in college; they were at the top of my list when looking at jobs.

Q: Describe NWR in one word.

A: Family (one team, one fight)

Q: How have changes in technology affected your job and the radiology industry in general?

A: My specialty, especially for pediatrics, did not come into its own until 20 years ago. Pediatric IR is just coming into its own now, so technology has allowed me to exist.

Q: Why would you tell someone to work for NWR?

A: You have to trust who you work with, no matter what politics or difficulties you have in your career. If you feel like you can trust your company, then you can persevere and succeed.

Q: What do you like to do in your free time? Hobbies, volunteer work?

A: I volunteer at Brebeuf (my high school) covering athletic events as a team doctor, along with Ortho Indy. I am the former treasurer and current secretary for the Indiana chapter of the American College of Radiology (ACR). I am also a council member for the Indiana delegation to the ACR and lobby on Capitol Hill for radiology and related issues once a year. In addition, I am going back to school part time for my MBA/Leadership through the Radiology Leadership Institute/ACR. When free, you can find me at the gym or rowing out at Eagle Creek.
