Northwest Radiology Network Welcomes Locker as Breast Imaging Radiologist

MatthewLockerNorthwest Radiology Network welcomes Matthew Locker, M.D., as its new breast imaging radiologist.

Dr. Locker focuses on women’s health, particularly mammography and breast imaging. Northwest Radiology Network’s breast imaging services include screenings and diagnostic mammography, ultrasound, MRI and interventional procedures.

Originally from Crawfordsville, Ind., Dr. Locker received his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in industrial engineering from Purdue University in West Lafayette and his Doctor of Medicine from the Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis.

Dr. Locker completed a five-year residency program in diagnostic radiology at the University of Texas Southwestern (UTSW) in Dallas, followed by a one-year fellowship in breast imaging also at UTSW. During his final year of advanced training, Dr. Locker worked directly under the former president of the American Cancer Society, Phil Evans, M.D., F.A.C.R.

“Northwest Radiology’s women’s imaging physicians are devoted to providing state-of-the-art quality breast imaging and diagnosis to our patients,” said Linda Wilgus, executive director at Northwest Radiology. “Dr. Locker has the specialized education and experience needed in this field, and we are excited to have him join our team.”

Dr. Locker and his wife moved to Indianapolis from Dallas for the opportunity to specialize in breast imaging in Indiana. The couple makes frequent trips to Colombia, South America to visit family and to further the mission of a local group of women artisans through a company they founded in the U.S. that imports and distributes handmade jewelry.

With his knowledge of the Spanish language and culture, Dr. Locker uses these skills daily in caring for the Hispanic patient population. Eventually he hopes to advance medical imaging in underserved countries, specifically with respect to breast cancer screening.
